The Season that was, but wasn’t.
Dear Players, Families & Supporters,
It was with much disappointment, but a strong sense of realism, on Wednesday 8th July, I was to notify all our players and families confirming that the 2020 NFNL Junior Football Season had been cancelled. The health, safety and welfare of players, officials and spectators has always been our highest consideration in the decision and was unanimously supported by the DCJFC Committee. Thank you to all players and families for your understanding and support through what was a difficult and unprecedented season and time for us all.
These are unique and unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in as a community and a football club. It has certainly been an ‘interesting’ year to take the reins at this great club. We have dealt with issues that no one saw coming, issues that previously have never existed and issues that literally changed by the day (and hour). It has been challenging and at times frustrating, but we pushed forward with the wellbeing and best interests of the players and club determining our decisions and actions.
To our new players who unfortunately didn’t get the chance to play in a competitive game, we look forward to seeing you all play in your debut season next year. To our U17 Players, it is extremely disappointing for you and your families not having the chance to play and watch your final season for DCJFC, especially after many of you participated in pre-season training with the Senior Squad. I wish you all well in your futures and hope to see you all playing U19’s next year for DCFNC.
I would like to thank all the Coaches, Team Manager’s and Team Officials who have been involved with every team this year. They have also had to abide and implement new training structures throughout the whole season. The ongoing support to your players and families has been a real credit to our club. Your roles are absolutely critical to the fabric and running of the club and we hope that you will re-apply for your roles next season.
For most of you, you only had the pleasure of seeing the work going on within the DCJFC. Our Auskick program was also massively affected this year with all the same on/off scenarios. I would like to thank Kerrie Flinn our Auskick co-ordinator for all your hard admin work this season. Your passion and enthusiasm for this program was a real credit to our club, the Auskick kids and families are our future. We look forward to the return next year.
Sponsors
I wish to thank our DCJFC 2020 Sponsors for their support this year. The club would not be in the shape it is without your ongoing support. I ask all our DCJFC Families to also support our sponsors wherever you can from buying a car, to having it serviced, looking for a trade, needing something to eat, buying/selling a house, any banking, shirts/flags printed or lifting your fitness. I hope all our sponsors will be back for a better season with the DCJFC in season 2021.
Committee
I would like to thank all members of the DCJFC Committee for all of their efforts and assistance throughout this season. This year we faced unprecedented challenges and workloads. There is a mountain of work that goes on behind the scenes, a lot of which remains unseen, but the success and smooth running of such a big club doesn’t happen by accident and your efforts directly attribute to our ongoing success. I would like to make special mention to the Executive Committee of, Vice President Kellie Lighton, Secretary Ali Levings and Treasurer Dean Burston. The support, work completed, meetings, zoom meetings, etc. It has been fantastic and a real pleasure working with you guys over this season.
Football Manager Paul Rowley has worked overtime this season ensuring the coaches are organised, kids can get on the park and he also co ordinated our first aid courses. Paul you have done a fantastic job this season.
Merchandise/Catering Man Brett Elward and Ground Manager Craig Bassett will be moving on next year as their boys depart the DCJFC. I thankyou both for all your work this and past years for this club. I hope you both join the Senior Committee in 2021.

We are unable to advertise a date for this right now due to lockdown. We will announce a date in the near future. I ask anyone who has an interest/questions in joining the DCJFC Committee for season 2021, to please contact me at your convenience. It is very rewarding.
